Databases are a good a place to begin research. They may contain articles
in journals, papers in conference proceedings, newspapers, chapters in
books, reports and reviews.
CINAHL Plus with Full Text (via EbscoHost), 1937-
CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature) is the
leading database for nursing studies, allied health, biomedicine, and
healthcare. It comprises bibliographic records and selected full-text of
nursing publications including books, book chapters, pamphlets,
audiovisuals, dissertations, educational software, selected conference
proceedings, standards of professional practice, nurse practice acts, etc.
There are more than 600,000 entries.

PsycINFO, 1872-
Provides abstracts and references to articles in psychology and
related disciplines, including communication in nursing, ethics in
nursing, end-of-life care, psychiatry and sociology. Includes
dissertations, book chapters covering empirical studies, case studies,
surveys, bibliographies, literature reviews, discussion articles, and
conference reports.

Sociological Abstracts, 1963-
Major resource for Sociology but includes social aspects of nursing such
as communication in nursing, ethics in nursing, end-of-life care.
Includes citations from journals, conference papers, books & dissertations.

PubMed, 1950-
Librarian's take: A free database service provided by the
U.S. National Library of Medicine and
includes over 17 million citations from MEDLINE for biomedical articles back
to the 1950s. Has some coverage of articles on nursing. PubMed includes
links to full text articles and other related resources.

Medline Plus
MedlinePlus is a free searchable database on consumer health information
from the world's largest medical library, the National Library of Medicine.
Presented in plain language, MedlinePlus has authoritative, up to date and
extensive information from the National Institutes of Health and other
trusted sources on over 740 diseases and conditions. It is updated daily.

The Cochrane Library (via Wiley InterScience)
The Cochrane Library is a high quality database of well-researched medical
studies or evidence to assist in healthcare decision-making. These
are also called "systematic reviews". A substantial number of reviews focus
on the evidence and effectiveness of nursing practices. See also the heading
