Databases are a good a place to begin research. They may contain articles
in journals, papers in conference proceedings, newspapers, chapters in
books, reports and reviews.
PubMed
Librarian's take: PubMed is produced
by the U.S. National Library of Medicine for access to MEDLINE, a
biomedical bibliographic database and some life sciences journals. It is the
best database to find dental articles as MEDLINE has extensive indexing of
over 700 dentistry journals.
The database
is updated daily and can be searched back to 1950.

Science Citation Index Expanded (via

The Science Citation Index
Expanded is a multidisciplinary index to journal
literature of the sciences. It is one of the three databases in Web of
Science; the other two being Social Science Citation Index and Arts and Humanities Citation Index.
Science Citation Index Expanded indexes about 57 journals on
dentistry, oral surgery and medicine; many of which are top tier journals. All
three databases are
searchable simultaneously by keyword or by works that have been cited by
other publications.

Provides access to US oral health data.

Statistics about percent of persons who visited a dentist in the past year.
US National Oral Health
Surveillance System
Provides estimates for dental visits in the past
year, teeth cleanings in the past year, complete tooth loss among elders,
and fluoridation status in the United States. Other oral health indicators included in the
system are caries experience, untreated caries, dental sealants and oral
cancer.
