This subject guide covers resources available at the NUS Libraries. This is not a comprehensive subject guide, but rather a selective list of materials that are most useful for locating information in Civil Engineering This guide contains the following sections: Databases
DatabasesDatabases are a good a place to begin research. They may contain articles in journals, papers in conference proceedings, newspapers, chapters in books, reports and reviews.Use of the above digital resources is governed by licensing agreements which restrict use to NUS staff and students only through NUSNET: Construction
InfoNet Engineering
Village 2 (EV
2) CBNB : Chemical Business NewsBase (1985- ) provides worldwide chemical business news and information. Sources include 300 core trade journals, newspapers, company newsletters/interim and annual reports, books, market research reports, and press releases. Chimica, 1970- covers 600 journals on chemistry and chemical engineering, with emphasis on applied and analytical chemistry. Other topics are physical chemistry, health and safety, organic and inorganic chemistry, and materials science. Compendex (over 9 million records, 1969-) indexes articles from over 5,000 journals and conference proceedings. Over 190 disciplines in the all fields of engineering, as well as related fields in science and management are covered. Inspec (8 million records, 1969-) is produced by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). It indexes 3,500 journals and 1,500 conference proceedings. Topics covered are physics, electrical engineering, electronics, communications, control engineering, computers and computing, IT, material science, biomedical technology, etc. NTIS : National Technical Information Service (over 2 million records, 1899- ) is a source of reports (including unclassified ones) from US and international government agencies like NASA, the United States Departments of Energy and Defense, the German Federal Ministry of Research and Technology and the Japan Ministry of International Trade and Industry. Science
Direct Has 29 million records. Covers life sciences, physical sciences, health sciences, social sciences and business. Indexes journals, conference proceedings, trade publications and quality web sources. Some records have links to full text. It does citation tracking. A researcher can find out how many times a particular article has been cited.

[via ISI Web of Knowledge]
Web of Science consists of three databases: Science Citation Index Expanded, Social Sciences Citation Index, and Arts & Humanities Citation Index. The citation indexes contain references cited by authors of articles covered in the indexes. Below is a brief description of the Science Citation Index Expanded in Web of Science
