This database provides regular updates on the various aspects of the local construction industry ie Construction statistics, Project information, Articles, CPL (Construction project Listing), CPU (Construction Price Update).

Engineering Village 2 (EV 2)
EV2 is the most important Engineering research database. It has five sub databases: Compendex, Inspec, National Technical Information Service, Chimica and CBNB which can be searched individually or together (more on each database below). It has over 16 million records, some of which have links to full text. EV2 covers journals, conference proceedings, unclassified government reports, and more.  It also has links to useful sites like the European Patent Office, Esp@cenet and scientific research tool, Scirus.

CBNB : Chemical Business NewsBase (1985- ) provides worldwide chemical business news and information. Sources include 300 core trade journals, newspapers, company newsletters/interim and annual reports, books, market research reports, and press releases.

Chimica, 1970- covers 600 journals on chemistry and chemical engineering, with emphasis on applied and analytical chemistry. Other topics are physical chemistry, health and safety, organic and inorganic chemistry, and materials science.

Compendex (over 9 million records, 1969-) indexes articles from over 5,000 journals and conference proceedings. Over 190 disciplines in the all fields of engineering, as well as related fields in science and management are covered.

Inspec (8 million records, 1969-) is produced by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). It indexes 3,500 journals and 1,500 conference proceedings. Topics covered are physics, electrical engineering, electronics, communications, control engineering, computers and computing, IT, material science, biomedical technology, etc.

NTIS : National Technical Information Service (over 2 million records, 1899- ) is a source of reports (including unclassified ones) from US and international government agencies like NASA, the United States Departments of Energy and Defense, the German Federal Ministry of Research and Technology and the Japan Ministry of International Trade and Industry.

Web of Science [via ISI Web of Knowledge]
Web of Science consists of three databases: Science Citation Index Expanded, Social Sciences Citation Index, and Arts & Humanities Citation Index.  The citation indexes contain references cited by authors of articles covered in the indexes.

Below is a brief description of the Science Citation Index Expanded in Web of Science

Science Citation Index Expanded (via Web of Science), 1980-
Science Citation Index Expanded (1900-) is a multidisciplinary index to the journal literature of the sciences providing full indexes to over 5,900 major journals across 150 scientific disciplines. Disciplines covered include biotechnology, computer science, materials science, mathematics and many more.

Librarian's take: This database's unique features included citation index, analytical tools in evaluating and ranking journals, related records search capability and links to full-text journals subscribed by NUS Libraries.
