Materials NOT found in Library

After you have ascertained that an item that you require is not available in the NUS Libraries, you have the following options:

  1. Check whether other major local libraries hold a particular book or journal by searching the catalogue of that particular library. You should check with that library about access to their library. If you have problems, please ask for assistance at the Information Desk.

  2. You may request the library to obtain the item for you. Request may be submitted through electronic forms through the Library Portal. After logging into the Library Portal, go to E-Forms:
    • To borrow a book from a non-NUS library, choose Loans Services and then Request to borrow book not held in NUS Libraries (Inter-library loan). This service is only available to graduate students and teaching staff
      .
    • To request that the library buys a new book, choose New Book/Journal/Multimedia Request, then Request purchase of Books. This service is open to all.
    • To obtain a journal article, book chapter, or paper from a conference, choose Document Delivery Service. This service is open to graduate students and teaching staff. It is also open to undergraduates who are willing to pay for the documents.

Make sure that the items you request are essential to your research before you request them. You also need to allow for some time for the item to arrive in the Library.
