What you need to find out:

• Does the source contain the information you need?

• Who is the intended audience for this source?

• Is it written at a level you understand and can use? Is the language too technical, advanced or specialised? Is the information too general or basic for your needs?

How you can find out:

• Read the preface of the book or editor's note for the journal.

• Scan the table of contents and index to obtain an overview of the material covered.

• Scan the chapters or articles that relate to your topic.
