Request a Closed Stacks Item

When an item has the location Closed Stacks with the status REQUEST ITEM, you can request the item to be retrieved for you through LINC.

After requesting the item, you must pick up the item from the loans desk within 5 days.

Each library has a different schedule for collecting Closed Stacks items. W.e.f. 10 August 2004, you can request in person at Central Library Loans Desk and pick up within an hour.

For most libraries, including the Central Library, the schedule is:
Pick up after 10.00 am the next day if requested before 7.00 pm Mon-Fri (during the semester)
Pick up after 1.00 pm if requested before 10.30 am Mon-Sat
Pick up after 6.00 pm if requested before 3.30 pm Mon-Fri

How to request Closed Stacks item

When viewing a journal record and you need a volume that is kept in Closed Stacks, click on Request at regular display.

At the next screen, type your matriculation or staff or membership number and personal identification number (PIN). Click on SUBMIT.

A list of all the volumes for the journal is shown. Click on the volume that you want to request. Click on REQUEST SELECTED ITEM at the end of the page.

To search for a specific volume, use EDIT on the browser menu bar to select FIND (ON THIS PAGE) and type the year or volume you want in the pop-up window then click on FIND.

Only one item can be selected at one time. To select another volume of the same journal:

Click on your browser BACK button and select another volume.

Click on REQUEST SELECTED ITEM at the end of the page.

If your request is successful, you get a message: Your request will be delivered to ... when it is available.

If you do not need the item requested, use use myLINC to cancel your request.

Click on Regular Display to go back to the record or click on Start Over to search by another option.
